Leonard Ratshilumela, who is 50 years old, was found guilty of bribery.
According to SAPS in May 2020, the accused, a public prosecutor in Thohoyandou, asked the mother of a minor who was charged with reckless and negligent driving to pay R6,000 so that the case could be dropped.
After getting a tip, the Hawks did an undercover operation and arrested him.
After the accused went to court several times, the Thohoyandou Magistrate’s Court set bail at R5000.00. He was eventually found guilty of corruption.
On November 21, 2022, he is scheduled to receive his sentence. However, Ratshilumela is still in jail. This is after he tried to kill the witnesses in his corruption case.
In addition to corruption, he is being charged with 4 attempted murders and 1 attempted arson.
Brigadier Desmond Alexander, who is the acting provincial head of the Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation in Limpopo Province, was happy about the conviction and thanked the investigation and prosecution teams for ensuring justice.
