Eskom is working on schedules that go beyond Stage 8 at this time

Eskom has acknowledged that it is collaborating with the National Energy Regulator of South Africa to develop outage schedules for stages beyond Stage 8, ENCA reports.

This is in spite of the fact that the administration intends to establish an Energy Minister whose primary responsibility would be to reduce the number of power outages.

Ruse Moleshe, an energy analyst, believes Stage 8 would have devastating effects.

“With Stage 8, for instance, it is over 8,000 megawatts that will not be available, and that is the size of more than three countries in Southern Africa. Additionally, the hours would most definitely be higher, more than 12 hours of load-shedding.”
