2 pitbulls kill a 3-year-old
According to the police, the boy had been playing with a group of other children outside of a house in Welkom, Free State on the morning of Sunday when he was attacked and killed by two pit bulls.
Residents have attacked a pitbull with spades and stones, and then set fire to it after the animal was responsible for the death of a young boy who was only three years old, EWN reports.

Captain Thakeng, the Free State police department’s spokesperson, confirmed the incident.
“2 pitbulls attacked a young boy, who was only three years old, and they mauled him to death. At this point, we are conducting research for an inquest.”
He claims that members of the Welkom Public Order Policing are present at the scene as tensions continue to rise.

“The community wanted to attack not only the owner of the dogs but also the dogs themselves. An angry group of locals set fire to one of the dogs, which resulted in the dog’s death, and the SPCA rescued the other dog.
The death of the three-year-old boy comes on the heels of the passing of another boy, also from the Free State, who passed away after being killed by a pit bull at his home in Vista Park, which is located close to Bloemfontein, a week ago.
