A pit bull was responsible for the death of an eight-year-old boy who was attacked at his home near Bloemfontein.
According to EWN, On Saturday, the dog is believed to have broken free from the yard and climbed over the fence to gain access to the property of a neighbor.
Mahlomola Kareli, who works for the police department, claims that the dog attacked the child while he was playing by himself, severely mauling him on his neck and chest.
Since then, the dog has been put to sleep.
Boy dies
When the police arrived, they discovered that emergency personnel were already there tending to the severely injured child. They immediately began their treatment.
The bloody and aggressive dog was discovered nearby and put down by members of the South African Police Service. It was determined that the boy, who was eight years old and lying next to the garage door in his parents’ backyard, had passed away at the scene.

This is the most recent case in recent months of a member of this breed being responsible for the death of a child.
In September, a 10-year-old boy was killed when the two pit bulls that belonged to his family attacked him inside his house in the Eastern Cape.
