Hawks in Limpopo have arrested an administrative assistant at Groblersdal Academy on suspicion of stealing R3.6 million.
According to News24, after being arrested on suspicion of fraud, 65-year-old Jacoba Kitshoff appeared in the Groblersdal Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday.
According to a spokesman for the Limpopo Hawks, allegations have surfaced that Kitshoff accessed the school’s bank account after hours and moved R3.6 million into her personal bank account.
“The institution uncovered the possible financial embezzlement and notified the Hawks. During the investigation, it was revealed that the accused had ended up losing all of that cash through an investment scam,” he said.
Bail was set at R6,000, and the hearing was continued until November 18, 2022.
