Mbappe’s (Wilfried Mbappé) father says, “I wanted my son to play for Cameroon, but their football federation wanted money that I didn’t have.” Mbappe was born in France, but his family moved to Cameroon when he was a child, Matook Republic reports.
Following their victory over Morocco in the semifinals of the FIFA World Cup in Qatar, the French national team was led by Kylian Mbappe, who was instrumental in their success.
If it weren’t for the money, however, Mbappe’s enormous talent could be contributing to Cameroon’s chances of qualifying for the World Cup.

Yesterday, Wilfried Mbappe, the father of Kylian Mbappe, revealed that his son would be donning a Cameroonian shirt if it weren’t for the enormous amounts of money that the football federation asked for in order to include him on the squad. Wilfried Mbappé explained his decision to play for France by saying, “I wanted my son to play for Cameroon’s national team but the football federation charged a certain amount that I didn’t have but France didn’t charge me a dime.”

Mbappe was born in the French city of Paris. His father, who is also his agent, is from Cameroon, and his mother, Fayza Lamari, is from Algeria. His father also doubles as his agent.
